This episode of BioGenesis season 3, \u201cbreaking the mold,\u201d features fifth-year graduate student Thy Pham. After moving to the U.S. from Vietnam at age 20, she learned English while delving into biophysics and computer science courses, opening a door to a career that she hadn\u2019t realized was available to her. As a member of the Bartel lab, she\u2019s applying artificial intelligence to predict how cells fine tune gene expression using short sequences of RNA called microRNAs.<\/p>\n
