Whether or not a particular student is required to take 7.51 (Principles of Biochemical Analysis), 7.52 (Genetics for Graduate Students), and\/or a quantitative biology class (typically 7.571 &amp; 7.572) will depend on their prior training and graduate-level coursework. For students with strong preparation in one or more of these areas, it may be appropriate to substitute an advanced elective.<\/p>\n<p>The best set of classes for each student will be determined on an individual basis in consultation with each student\u2019s first-year academic advisor (not the same as the research advisor).
